Osceola Middle School Reviews

this school is awsome!-the teachers are a little strict but you learn what you need to learn. Advanced classes go a little faster than usual classes but if someone needs help the teachers are willing to slow down a bit-all you have to do is ask!

Osceola provides a good environment for middle schoolers living in the area. It has an open campus and the current principal is involved and proactive. The curriculum for all middle schools is Ocala is standardized, so you get the same thing at all public middle schools. However, I have observed that there are more 'engaged students here

Overall I have been disappointed with this school for my son. The newsletters announce numerous clubs/groups and extracurricular activities but upon inquiring further, the groups are filled to capacity right away the first week of school and the majority of them are non-existent anyway. Only approx 20% of the advertised clubs were actually going to run for the year. Also, out of the 6 teachers my son had in sixth grade, only 2 of them really appeared interested in their occupations. Two of his teachers really seemed joyless in their line of work. And the testing troubled me too. Instead of traditional spelling tests, the kids had to choose from multiple choice exams which word was the correctly spelled one. One praiseworthy thing was that my son had a very fine technology teacher and so he was very happy in that class.

My daughter entered the seventh grade mid-year. I am impressed with the structure of the school. Students are motivated to perform academically, it is wonderful. The students are involved in many community activities as well giving back something to the environment around them. I would like to see more languages for the children since this is critical to develop a well-rounded adult. However, overall, I am very impressed with the school.

This is a very good school. The teachers are very interested in the student's education. I would recommend this school.

Osceola is an excellent school they have very high standards for the kids and they encourage academic success. There is some limitations on music and art programs but they have a great sports club. There is a great amount of parent involvment in the school.

Osceola is a decent middle school to attend in Marion County. Some of the teachers can be a little difficult but compared to other schools I've seen in this area this one is alright. They do not have a chorus or any type of classical music involvment. There is an art class that your child can take as well as a business class. The parent involvement is pretty low. Parents never know what is happening at school unless they constantly aggravate the teachers. When I went there, the school had a different principal so I can't say what the new one would be like. The quality of academic programs is sort of in between. I had only one teacher who even considered taking us on field trips. I learned a lot from her but not much from my other teachers.
