The Fine Arts of Ocala sponsors a two-day annual autumn arts show on the grounds of City Hall. The Ocala Civic Center offers musical and dramatic productions in a theatre that’s second largest in the state.
Marion Cultural Alliance and the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association sponsor “Horse Fever” with 50 life-size statues of horses strategically placed around town; they are then auctioned off to benefits various arts programs. The Appleton Museum of Art features traveling exhibits three times a year in addition to its permanent collection of 18th and 19th century academic art from Europe, Canada and the U.S., Pre-Columbian art, African art, Asian art, and Antiquities. The Brick City Center for the Arts is a cultural center located in a former department store in historic downtown Ocala.
